Overload Enchantment

Deciding factor: Item Bonuses
The Overload Enchantment is a temporary Enchantment. There are 2 Overload Slots overall and Overload Enchantments with the same bonus do not stack. There were several different Overload Enchantments added over the time:
With Mod 3 the Corrupt / Purified Enchantments were introduced. They provide 800 stat points and 1.25% AP or Temporary Hit Points each second for 8 seconds once in 70 seconds and are triggered by a certain condition. They are quite a good source to gain AP! They are similarly expensive as Smiting Glyphs!
With Mod 4 the Dragon Glyphs were added. They provide 800 stat points and either a fixed damage effect or a Boost for 20 seconds once in 60 seconds and are triggered by a certain condition. They are super cheap!
With Mod 7 the Stronghold PVE and PVP Slayer Marks and Wards were added. All of them either provide a strong damage resistance or an additional hit based on the enemies type (Undead, Dragon, Giant, … and so on). They are one of the most precious overloads. Green and blue overloads do not stack! The undead overloads (green slayer, blue ward) are especially great as many enemies in scaled content are undead!
With the introduction of Storm King's Thunder, Smiting Glyphs were introduced. They are slightly better than Dragons Glyphs but several times more expensive. They provide 1% stat as percentage and either a fixed damage effect or a Boost for 20 seconds once in 60 seconds and are triggered by a certain condition.
With the Introduction of the Hell Pit, Appointment Overload Enchantments for special currencies were introduced. They provide significant stats or boosts and are - next to the Stronghold overloads - the way to go for challenging content. Due to their rarity, they can not be used all around.
With Mod 24, Mod 25 and Mod 26 new types of Slayer and Ward Overload Enchantments are added that are especially good in Underdark! Drow Slayer (Wards), Spider Slayer (Wards) and Demon Slayer (Wards). They work differenty than Stronghold Overloads! These are (partly) recommended in MToS and Gzemnid’s Reliquary.
With Mod 27 and Mod 28 Astral Elf Slayer (Wards) and Wildspace Slayer (Wards) were introduced. The Astral Elf Slayer Marks are useful in MDoM, but all Wards are expensive and useless!
With Mod 29 Greater and Lesser Fiend Slayer Overloads and Greater and Lesser Fiend Wards were introduced. TODO: Their usefulness is still to be evaluated.
TODO: Add these overlaods
-10% incoming damage from Fiends.

+10% damage against Fiends. This is not an additional hit like the ones provided by the Stronghold but just an outgoing damage bonus of 10% (added to the other damage bonuses).

-8% incoming damage from Fiends.

+8% damage against Fiends.

+10% damage against Astral Elfs. Best in Slot for MDoM! This is not an additional hit like the ones provided by the Stronghold but just an outgoing damage bonus of 10% (added to the other damage bonuses).

-10% incoming damage from Astral Elfs. Pretty useless as the only really strong boss (Captain Zoor'lar - MDoM) is not tagged as an Astral Elf!

+5% damage in whole Wildspace. With only +5% and its steep price, it is overshadowed by Appointment Overload Enchantments!

-5% damage in whole Wildspace. With only -5% and its steep price, it is overshadowed by Appointment Overload Enchantments!

-10% incoming damage from Drows. Best in Slot for survivability in MToS (all three are considered Drow, however Syndryth does not deal much damage)! This is not a debuff like known from Stronghold Overloads but just a normal multiplier of 0.9.
Versions against Spiders exist too.

+10% damage against Drows. Best in Slot for burning bosses in MToS! This is an outgoing damage bonus of 10% (added to the other damage bonuses).
Versions against Spider exist too.

-10% incoming damage from Demons. Good for survivability in MDWP (Lolth is considered Demon)! This is not a debuff like known from Stronghold Overloads but just a normal multiplier of 0.9.

+10% damage against Drows. Good for MDWP! This is an outgoing damage bonus of 10% (added to the other damage bonuses).

+10% Critical Avoidance in Underdark (MToS, MDemo, Gzemnid’s Reliquary). Best in slot to counter Oneshots! However, it is the most expensive one from the store and replaceable by Hell Pit Overloads.

In any challenging unscaled content the Appointment Overload Enchantments from the Hell Pit are recommended. There are 6 Appointment Overloads, however only 3 are defensive oriented. They provide all around the same survivability. It is not recommended to use offensive Appointment Overload Enchantments, because these are quite expensive and less effective group damage wise (not percent wise) on tanks! Thus the following 3 Overload Enchantments are noticeable.
+5% Hit Points. Not the best but still great for survivability!

+5% Physical Damage Reduction. Great for survivability! Ignore the “Physical”. Most attacks are reduced by this enchantment!

Thus, while it is clearly the last choice for all defined metrics in this guide, the special case above (which one cannot optimize for) will not remove any recommendation for this Overload Enchantment. It represents the case mentioned in Part 1: Weaknesses of the metrics. This is up to the reader to decide.

If the type of the enemy is covered by the stronghold overloads in unscaled content, then the stronghold overloads are also recommended (mostly for dps and healers)! Next to undead, the Dragon Marks are interesting for dragon hunts, Tiamat and Crown of Keldegonn. The wards have quite a weird mechanic, thus they are only shortly summarized here: In short the Stronghold Slayer marks produce on each hit against the certain type of enemy another hit of either 5% or 10% of the pre mitigated damage. The wards provide - when taking a hit - a debuff on the enemy that reduces damage by 5% or 10%. Take a look at this old thread for more information and for a list of all marks the official Neverwinter Wiki is good for.

This is an example of a Stronghold ward. Both undead overloads are working.

Technically the Overload Enchantment with the biggest potency under the circumstances that the enemy crits and that the deflect happens because of the added 5% Deflect Chance. Under such a situation this Overload Enchantment would be the best. However, under the and metrics with a low or medium high Critical Severity stat, this Overload Enchantment loses any comparison.
This is an example of a Stronghold Slayer mark. The blue Undead Slayer with 10% is still wrongly mapped and is working against dragons instead! The green 5% mark is working. See for more information about wrong mapped overloads.
