Extra for veteran players: What has changed in Mod 26 / 27?

Before starting with the guide, let’s give a short update on what has changed for the Fighter in Mod 26 and 27. Feel free to skip it if you are new to Neverwinter Online.

Mod 26 gave us the “Demonweb Pits” including a new Dungeon and a few new good gear choices for the chest. Mod 26 also included a new Mount Combat Power under the name of "Slab of Vecna" (2400 Magnitude + 15% self damage buff) which is broken and profits twice from Combat Advantage. This bug was finally fixed in April 2024. Overall, this mount power made holding aggro quite a challenge with the result that even experienced tanks (without the use of KV) lost aggro during artifact calls. Mod 27 included a reshaping of the tank threat formula, increasing threat generated by powers not having "Increased Threat" in it. This makes holding aggro yet again comfortable. But beware, tanks can still loose aggro when slacking off. Mod 27 also included a new campaign "Light of Xaryxis" and trial "Defense of the Moondancer" as well as a Boon rework. Overall, the direction of how to build a tank hasn't changed. Endgame tanks still focus on increasing their damage output or their buff-capability to allies while capping the three most important defensive stats.

Here is a short list of the most important changes in Mod 26:

  • A new dungeon The Demonweb Pits ending the Underdark story and including new BiS gear.

  • A new (and for Fighter cheap) Masterwork Weapon Set!

  • A new threat ring featuring Critical Avoidance!

  • Mounts: "Slab of Vecna" (2400 Magnitude + 15% self damage buff) and several other 4-Insignia mounts.

  • A new artifact for tanks: the Realm Engine Core for its substats.

  • New Demon Slayer and Ward Overloads.

  • New Insignias: Insignia of Tranquility (Crit Strike / Forte) and Insignia of Precision (Accuracy / Crit Strike).

  • New (Dual-Stat) Enchantments:

    • Peridot (Accuacy / Crit Strike, Defense / Deflect Severity)

    • Diamond (Combat Advantage / Critical Severity, Defense /Critical Avoidance)

    • Opal (Power / Crit Strike, Awareness / Deflection)

  • 4 new Boon Points!

Here a short list of the most important changes in Mod 27:

  • A fundamental change to the Threat formula, details will follow in the next section.

  • A fundamental change to Boons!

  • A new skirmish … I mean challenging trial called 'Defense of the Moondancer' including gear that is only best in slot in there.

  • A new campaign: “Light of Xaryxis

  • New gear against scaled content (+20% Damage / +20% Damage Reduction). Sounds stunning, but no joke! Though there is also Space Clown Appearance Items ...

  • New Seal equipment (Spider God) was released with 2050 Item Level.

  • 1800 IL companion equipment that is best in slot.

  • Even more new Mounts with 4 insignias and new 4 insignia bonuses.

  • New (Dual-Stat) Enchantments:

    • Moonstone (Power / Combat Advantage, Defense / Awareness)

    • Onyx (Combat Advantage / Critical Severity, Critical Avoidance / Deflect Severity)

  • New Overloads against Astral Elves and within WIldspace.

  • 4 additional Boon Points!
